Feeling like you have to pee during sex is actually more common than you might think. Often, the bladder and clitoris are very close to each other, making it easy for a penis or sex toy to accidentally stimulate the bladder or cause that feeling of needing to pee.
But is it actually a feeling of needing to pee or could it be an orgasm?
Your bladder is full
It’s not a witch curse and it isn’t because you drink too much water (although that might be part of the problem). As Cosmopolitan reports, your bladder sits directly behind the vagina, which means that when you get down during penetrative sex, the penis can put pressure on your bladder and cause those feelings like you have to go. That, combined with stimulation of the Skene’s glands—located on either side of your urethra—can lead to phantom urinary sensations that feel like you need to pee.
The good news is that a feeling of needing to pee during sex is actually very normal. In fact, it may even indicate you’re about to orgasm. “During orgasms, it’s possible that your g-spot can get stimulated by the same thing that makes you think you have to pee: the urethra,” Ross says.
But before you start to worry that there’s a big problem, know that this type of urination is very common for women who do penetrative sex because the urethra and bladder are next to each other. If you’re worried, try emptying your bladder before sex or switching positions during sex to see if that helps. You could also try lubrication to help ease the feeling of needing to pee. Your vagina is irritated

You’re having a UTI
If you feel like you have to pee during sex, it could be an indication of a urinary tract infection (UTI). UTIs are caused by bacteria from your gut entering the urinary tract via the urethra. During sex, the bladder is often bumped around, which can cause this feeling. Luckily, you can get rid of your UTI by taking antibiotics and drinking plenty of fluids.
It’s also important to empty your bladder before and after sex. This can help flush bacteria out and prevent it from lining the urethra. Also, make sure you use a condom or diaphragm that doesn’t contain spermicide. Using a lubricant can also help reduce the risk of infection.
Women may feel the urge to pee during sex when they’re reaching orgasm because the clitoris is close to the bladder and urethra. This means that when you’re going for orgasm, your bladder is being pushed up against the clitoris and it can feel like you have to pee.
Some women may worry that they’re urinating during orgasm, but this is usually not the case.
